Kayla Abercrombie (she/her)

2026 Youth Justice Champion Award Recipient

Kayla Abercrombie is a third-year law student at Georgia State University College of Law, where she serves as a Research Editor for the Georgia State University Law Review. She is also a judicial extern with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia and a Corporate Law Graduate Research Assistant at the College of Law.

Kayla’s academic and professional interests center on business law, particularly corporate law, bankruptcy, secured transactions, and commercial finance. Her experience includes work in private practice and the federal courts, as well as extensive legal research and writing. She has authored several forthcoming publications examining issues in corporate governance and financial transactions.

Kayla has worked with SLCY since April 2025 and is deeply committed to its mission and the communities it serves. Her involvement has included multiple service weeks and name change clinics, as well as speaking engagements and public interest fairs where she has represented the organization and its work. Beyond these events, Kayla remains involved year-round, supporting SLCY with pleadings, administrative matters, and other ongoing legal needs. Her work with SLCY has been a particularly meaningful part of her law school experience, allowing her to use her legal skills in support of a mission and community she genuinely cares about.
