Representative Akbar Ali
Georgia State Representative, District 106
2026 Fearless Youth Advocate Award Winner
Representative Akbar Ali is a son of Gwinnett County, proudly serving its communities as a proud product of its public schools and its culture. He is someone who believes that real progress gets made together.
From serving as Gwinnett County Democratic Party’s First Vice Chair, to organizing local campaigns as his neighbor, and now as your State Representative in the GA General Assembly, his work has always functioned on one core belief: Leadership is not about titles, it’s about those around you.
He took this belief to the GA General Assembly, where he routinely championed his community through consistent outreach, down-to-earth policy proposals, and putting District 106’s needs first. Having worked to pass legislation such as gas tax suspensions, HOA reforms, and measures to support public education.
While holding a bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University in political science and public relations, he also is a young entrepreneur. Knowing the value of hard work, he was able to launch and run a successful business that he begun at age 20. He knows what it means to build something from the ground up, and he takes that principle everywhere he goes.
That same principle is what has allowed him to proudly serve District 106, the cities of Lawrenceville and Snellville, since 2025.
