Flannery Josey is a community member, neighbor, Atlanta native, nature-lover, music obsessive, and attorney.
As a child of deaf adults (CODA), Flannery is dedicated to clear communication, inclusivity, accessibility, and disability rights. While attending Emory Law School, Flannery co-founded the Disabled Law Students Association, served on the board of OUTLaw, participated in the Barton Law Clinic for child law and policy, and worked on multiple amicus briefs on disability and taxation for the U.S. Supreme Court with the Emory Law School Supreme Court Advocacy Program (one brief cited in a concurring opinion). Flannery was recognized with the law school's Dean's Service Award and Pro Bono Publico Medal, the university's Lavender Diploma, and OUTLaw's Outstanding Graduate Award. Flannery graduated from the College of William & Mary with a B.A. in American Studies.
Flannery loves working as an attorney in wills, probate, and business law, taking time to explain complex concepts and empower each person to make the best decisions for their situation and goals.
Flannery is excited to bring a commitment for advocacy, collaborative work, and lifelong learning to SLCY -- to honor how interdependent we are as humans through SLCY's work to serve the unmet needs of individual youth and to improve the systems that serve youth.
